Happy 4th, everyone! Today is the last Thursday blog dedicated to the #CHAARGin30 challenge. 48 of our amazing CHAARG ladies decided to spend the month of June dedicated to eating whole foods. It was definitely not easy and some of us can even admit to a few slip-up, but the important part is that we all learned about our bodies and made some changes that will last us throughout our journey of living a healthy life. For our last challenge, we asked the participants to send us a 3-5 minute video sharing their experience during the #CHAARGin30 Challenge + a 200-500 word blog post expanding on the experience. The winner is Samantha Stine! Read on to hear about her #CHAARGin30 journey.

To say the Whole 30 Challenge changed my life would be an understatement. I never knew the impact the foods we consumed had on our bodies. The Whole 30 changed my relationship with food. I now see food as a way to fuel my body. Our bodies do not want loads of sugar or processed foods. That’s why we tend to feel bloated and super full after a grainy or sugary meal. At the end of the first week I already noticed a difference in my body. I was no longer bloated after eating, my mood changed, I didn’t break out anymore, and overall I just felt better about myself.

However, the Whole30 had its challenges. I wish I had done more research before I started because eating eggs every day for breakfast became redundant and boring. But there are tons of websites you can visit to find paleo and Whole30 approved meals. I found most of my recipe ideas on Instagram – I would search #paleo, #whole30, #paleobreakfast, etc. (We’ll be honest Samm @ss_paleo had our mouths watering from all her pictures!)

I’m not going to pretend I got through the entire 30 days without cheating a little. Being from Cincinnati my family LOVES Graeter’s Ice Cream. Naturally, I had a few licks of Peach Ice Cream (whoops). Also I may have indulged in a few spoonfuls of peanut butter here and there (not apologizing about that one, hah). With that being said if you decide to do the Whole30, don’t be too stressed about this. We aren’t perfect and sometimes it is hard to make drastic changes. Just stay focused and know that at the end of the 30 days you will feel so amazing.

Remember: it’s not going to be easy, but it will be worth it.

Watch Samm’s post-Whole30 video. She gives awesome advice on prepping, getting your family on board, and trying new vegetables.

Samm is continuing on her paleo journey, training for a bikini competition, and even started a blog, http://samanthastine.weebly.com/ ! Talk about a fit summer! Congrats, Samm!

CHAARG CHAT:  Are you planning on continuing a “paleo-esque” diet? Has anyone gotten more motivated to try a Whole30 challenge?
